Safety

Secure Nose-Wheel Retention and Pick-up – The Expediters have a pick-up and retention system that is one of the safest in the industry. The aircraft landing gear is securely locked into the tractor’s cradle, which prevents it from escaping. A ball joint allows the cradle to move during turns, which takes pressure off of the nose landing gear.

Stable Design to Prevent Jack-Knifing – To prevent jack-knifing, Expediters have an integrated yaw stabilization braking system that prevents the tractor from losing control during high speed towing operations. This is a result of the Expediter being designed to maintain traction on the rear wheels, providing a stabilizing force that straightens out the tractor and gives the operator a chance to correct the steering. In addition, the Expediter pick-up system automatically adjusts maximum traction and braking force to match the aircraft type.

Proven Oversteer Alert Device – The Expediters have a proven oversteer alert device which alerts the operator that the nose landing gear has exceeded the load limits, set by the aircraft manufacturer.

2 Levels of Back-up for Aircraft Release – In addition to the standard release, the Expediters have 2 back-up releases (electric driven hydraulic pump back-up and a manual operated hand pump back-up).

Back-up Steering and Braking – Expediters have back-up steering and braking. In the unlikely event of a loss of engine power, an automatic electric driven back up hydraulic pump with manual override allows emergency steering.

Smooth Dynamic Braking – The hydrostatic dynamic braking of the hydrostatic drive provides smooth braking and accelerating. This prevents jerking and vibration that can lead to damage to the nose landing gear.
