FMC FoodTech Enhances In-line Weighing with Libra™ Technology

New system improves accuracy in weighing, metering and blending

FMC FoodTech, the leading supplier of integrated food processing solutions, is introducing its new LibraTM Weigh System this week at PROCESS EXPO 2006 in Chicago. The Libra Weigh System is a revolutionary in-line weighing system that allows processors to accurately and easily meter, weigh and blend products within a processing line.

“This new addition to our weighing technology capabilities will have a significant impact for our customers in the snack, bakery and fruit and vegetable industries,” says Neil Anderson, general sales manager of FMC FoodTech, Allen Systems PPM. “We are proud to now offer unprecedented accuracy and reliability in this easy to use in-line weighing system.”

Processors will witness considerable product yield improvement as a result of the system’s high accuracy—up to one percent for free flowing materials. The FMC FoodTech Libra Weigh System is also the most sanitary design on the market and offers more consistent performance than other market solutions due to elimination of belts and pulleys. Furthermore, the smaller elevation drops throughout the system and design of less elevation overall, translate into a significantly smaller footprint than other competing systems.

The system consists of a pre-metering device, two vibratory conveyors, and state of the art Libra Technology, ideal for delivering an accurate, controllable, dynamic flow of bulk material on a mass basis. The flexible design meets a variety of customer applications, including metering of powders and granulates and blending of fruits and vegetables. In addition to its primary use to provide a desired mass flow, the system may be used for active and passive process control.
