FMC Technologies Selected by The Plain Dealer for Newsprint Handling System

FMC Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: FTI) announced that its Automated Systems business has been selected by Advanced Publications’ The Plain Dealer of Cleveland, Ohio to supply an integrated paper roll handling system for their Tiedeman Production and Distribution Center. The new system features nine laser guided vehicles that will replace an obsolete wire guided system. The vehicles provide automatic, unmanned movement of paper rolls between storage areas, preparation stations and the presses. They also automatically load the presses with new paper rolls to maximize productivity.

This system represents the fourth integrated roll handling system awarded to FMC Technologies in North America in the past year. “These awards help confirm the value, cost savings and efficiency that FMC Technologies’ roll handling systems deliver”, said Barry Douglas, General Manager of FMC Technologies’ Automated Systems business.
